Jorge is a Brazilian director, screenwriter, and photographer who has called Montreal home since 2003. His most recent film, Ousmane, premiered at TIFF and had its international premiere at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. It’s since been acquired by The New Yorker and screened at over 60 festivals worldwide, with Variety and The Hollywood Reporter both naming it one of the best films of 2022. Parabéns, Jorge! The film was shortlisted for the Oscars and ultimately came home with 15 awards, including wins at two Oscar-qualifying festivals and a Vimeo Staff Pick Best of the Year. Jorge founded Voix Invisibles, a residency dedicated to supporting creators from underrepresented groups in the Montreal region in collaboration with Montreal’s PHI Centre. He is currently developing his first feature film, Au revoir, Brésil, with the support of Telefilm Canada.
